Cheater’s Chocolate Mousse

I often make this for a pie filling, but I love it as a dessert on it’s own. It’s really great with fruit on top like raspberries, or even used in a recipe for a trifle like the one that you love to make! Try it out, it’s a super shortcut for a fancy result!

Cheater’s Chocolate Mousse

Servings: 10

  • 1-1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 (5.9 oz) box instant chocolate pudiing
  • 1/4t vanilla
  • 1/4t instant espresso powder (optional)

  1. In a med-large mixing bowl add heavy cream, milk, (both should be VERY cold)vanilla and instant espresso powder. (The espresso powder does not make the mousse taste like coffee, but it just brings out the flavor of the chocolate.) Add the pudding mix to the bowl. Whip the mixture with a handheld mixer fitted with a wire whisk attachment for about 3 minutes.

  2. The mixture should be thick enough that when a spoonful is turned upside down it stays on the spoon. Cover the mixing bowl and place in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes or until ready to serve.
